Here, as at the Lodge, the guests’ every wish, whim, desire or dream is satisfied by a caring and friendly staff, whose love of what they do and where they live, is reflected in their instinctive attentiveness and anticipation of one’s every need. The entrance is shaded by a mighty Morukuru tree, the lodge’s namesake, a sturdy and impressive sentinel standing guard over all who enter. The Owner’s House has two spacious, beautifully appointed bedrooms with the usual Morukuru facilities such as full en-suite, air-conditioning and fans, fireplace and insect-screened sliding doors giving access to private balconies. There are also rest-and-relaxation areas where guests can hide away and listen to the whispering green canopy of trees, or to the birds throwing their calls like pebbles into a pool of tranquility. The bedrooms mirror each other on either side of the central living area where plush soft furnishings, Madikwe stone crafted by the local community, wood and glass elements work together to create a pleasing synergy of contemporary African décor, style and ambiance. The living area boasts state-of-the-art digital entertainment and home office facilities, as well as an elegant dining area and formal lounge. Two terraced balcony areas provide outdoor seating for a the endless array of Morukuru-styled culinary experiences as diverse as high tea, open-air pizzas or an ‘out-of-Africa’, colonial style dining experience complete with crystal glassware, crisp linen and silver cutlery lit by candle and starlight.Morukuru Owner’s House also has a fully-stocked, custom-designed wine cellar, featuring a great selection of good South African house and estate wines, which the butler, who has been empowered to study South African wine so as to be able to advise guests knowledgeably on food-and-wine combinations, will give interested guests an enthusiastic tour. Catering at the Owner’s House is done from a fully-equipped private kitchen where guests are also welcome to a constant supply of quality teas, coffees and home-made snacks such as rusks and biscotti. Furthermore, overseas guests are welcome to demonstrate national recipes if the mood takes them, and junior guests have even been known to hone their baking and cooking skills under the benevolent guidance of the dedicated chef!
