Situated in the Malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve, just a 1 hour flight or 4 ½ hour drive from Johannesburg International Airport, this is the ideal safari destination teeming with encounters of Southern Africa’s famous Big Five as well as the endangered Wild dogs and Cheetah!  

Children of all ages are welcome at Royal Madikwe where they can play and learn about their natural surroundings in a safe environment with an exciting kiddies program while parents relax by the poolside, or join in on the fun!

The Royal Madikwe is an intimate luxury safari lodge situated in the western section of the reserve, accommodating a maximum of 14 guests in just 5 beautifully appointed suites.

Royal Madikwe Luxury Safari Lodge also offers the option of exclusive use of the whole lodge, providing a more personal and intimate experience ideal for small groups or families which is available on request. 

Children’s Activities (Daily between 12h00 – 13h00)

A complimentary fun filled program created just for your little ones to keep them entertained and excited about their adventure at Royal Madikwe. With T-shirt painting, Doughnut decorating, Animal tracking, Face painting, Arts and crafts, African beading, and Storytelling, they will have endless fun to look forward to!

Policies

Cancellations are only effective on receipt of written notification.

Less than 4 weeks’ notice prior to arrival - 50% of total invoiced amount.   Less than 2 weeks’ notice prior to arrival - 100% of total invoiced amount.   Less than 8 weeks’ notice prior to arrival - 100% of total invoiced amount. (25 Mar – 25 April / 15 Dec – 5 Jan)

All rates quoted for both accommodation and transfers are valid at the time of booking, but until such time as full and final payment has been received, the price is subject to change without prior notice. 

In the event of premature departure the full extent of the stay, as originally booked and confirmed, will be charged. 

In the unlikely event of there being an unscheduled postponement of a reservation caused by bad weather, strikes or any other matter beyond our control, it is understood that expenses incurred will be for the client's account.

Extras must be settled directly at the lodge on departure. We accept both cash and credit card (Amex l Visa l MasterCard) as means of payment.

Children of all ages are welcome at Royal Madikwe!

Children under the age of 5 years are not permitted on the scheduled game drives, however, a 1 hour kiddie’s bumble can be arranged at the lodge. Children under the age of 2 years stay for free in a cot when sharing with 2 adults in a Luxury Suite.  Creating triple suites in a Luxury Suite or adding an additional child to a Family Suite will be subject to availability based on occupancy. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted on Bush Walks.

The Royal Madikwe offers luxurious accommodation on a per person sharing basis to a maximum of 14 guests in 5 beautifully appointed suites. Please enquire with our reservations team regarding the option of Exclusive Use of the lodge.

A written request is required to proceed with a reservation. A reservation will be held as provisional for a maximum of 10 days only if requested in writing and confirmed via return e-mail with a provisional reference number.

A deposit of 50% of the total invoiced amount is required to secure a reservation and must be paid within 10 days of accepting the quote. A deposit made to guarantee a reservation is non-refundable and once the deposit has been received, the client is liable for cancellation fees. Full and Final payment is due 4 weeks prior to the date of arrival.

SHUTTLE FLIGHTS

Royal Madikwe is easily accessed by daily shuttle flights from (OR Tambo) Johannesburg International Airport to Madikwe Game Reserve Western Airstrip. Approximate flight time is 1 hour. Guests will be transferred from the Western Airstrip in an open vehicle to Royal Madikwe at no extra cost – approximately 25 minute drive.

PRIVATE CHARTERS

Private Charters can be arranged for a more luxurious experience and includes a meet & greet facility whereby guests will be escorted off international flights through customs/immigration. Flight times are reasonably flexible to suit guests’ requirements.

ROAD TRANSFERS

Alternatively, a road transfer can be arranged to transfer guests to/from Royal Madikwe. Approximately 5 hours’ drive from Johannesburg or 3 hours from Sun City. Please enquire for transfers from other destinations.
