Terms & Conditions exclusive to Tshukudu Bush Lodge

• Luxury Chalet - Each custom designed chalet offers a romantic sunken bath, an open plan lounge and bedroom, a fireplace and private balcony.

• Tshukudu Suite - Each spacious custom designed suite has all of Tshukudu’s finest touches as standard, including the crystal chandeliers and rock craft fireplace.

Luxurious baths overlooking the plains remain an integral feature of the bathroom and romantic experience. The Tshukudu Suites also include a private plunge pool on

their secluded decks, and outdoor shower and twin vanities.

• Minimum two night stay over weekends (Friday & Saturday)

• Check in at Bakubung by 13h30 daily; please note there is one scheduled transfer to Tshukudu per day.

• No children under the age of 12 years permitted at the lodge

• Please note that there are 132 steps to lodge.

• For the full Tshukudu bush experience there are no radios, televisions or telephones. Cell phone reception is very limited.

• Rates include transfers between Bakubung and Tshukudu, accommodation, welcome drinks on arrival, high tea, two game drives, five-course dinner, brunch and all local beverages.

• Five-course meals are prepared for guests in the dining room or bush dinner (weather permitting). 

Child Policy

Unfortunately no children under the age of 12 years are allowed at the Lodge.  

Children between the ages of 12 – 17 Years, sharing with 1 or 2 adults will be charged a third person supplement rate on a Fully Inclusive basis

CANCELLATION POLICY

2.4. Cancellation Policy per Booking:

Rooms will be kept until 18h00 on day of arrival unless otherwise assured or guaranteed.2.2. Full pre-payment of the accommodation amount is required in order to secure your booking.2.3. Check-in is from 14h00 and check-out is by 10h00.2.4. Cancellation Policy per Booking:a. Cancellations – for two or less rooms – within 48 hours prior to arrival will be subject to a full cancellation fee of the value of the accommodation booked.b. Cancellations – for three to nine rooms – within seven days prior to arrival will be subject to a full cancellation fee of the value of the accommodation booked.c. Cancellations – ten rooms or more – tour cancellation policy in 1 above will apply.2.5. Guaranteed reservations i.e in respect of which full payment has been received or alternative guarantees are in place with extended payment facilities at the hotel, will be held for first night only, after which the accommodation will be released if not taken up by then.

A full English brunch prepared to perfection at the end of an early morning game drive; high tea with a savory and sweet selection; sundowners under African skies; a splendid selection of wine provides the ultimate accompaniment to your five course Dinner.

When you visit Tshukudu, we ask that you leave all the trappings of city life behind - including your car. Guest vehicles can be parked in protected parking bay at Bakubung Bush Lodge.

From there, you can entrust everything to us:

Transfers between Pilanesberg Airport and Tshukudu can be arranged at a charge.

One daily transfer from Bakubung at 14h30. High tea served on arrival.

Directions from Fourways, Sandton

Travel north along William Nicol Drive to the four-way intersection with Witkoppen Road. Turn left into Witkoppen road towards Lanseria/Roodepoort. Turn right at the intersection with Hans Strijdom Extension on the road towards Broederstroom and Lanseria. Cross over the Muldersdrift/Diepsloot Road and continue with the R512 towards Broederstroom and Lanseria. Cross the bridge over the R28 Krugersdorp/Pretoria highway, pass the Lanseria turnoff and continue straight ahead. At the T-junction turn left on the R512 to Magaliesberg. Continue on this road until you see the Sun City signboard on your left. Turn right on the R512 to Brits and cross the bridge over Hartebeespoort Dam. At the T-junction turn right on the R512 to Brits. Follow directional signs. Continue to the four-way stop and turn left on the R512/27 for Brits/Rustenburg. Pass the first Brits turnoff. At the signpost R27 Rustenburg/Brits turn right. On the bridge turn left towards Rustenburg. Continue till you get to the slipway to the left. Take the slipway and continue on the new N4 highway. A signboard on the left side of the road indicates Pilanesberg to the left on route 91. Exit left off the highway. At the T-junction turn right and continue on this road to Sun City. Pass the Kwa Maritane signboard and Sun Village and turn right at the Bakubung and Tshukudu signpost. Follow the road and it will lead you to the Bakubung Gate. At Bakubung Reception, ask for Tshukudu Office. The transfer to Tshukudu is at 14h00 from Bakubung.

Directions from Centurion, Pretoria

Take the N1 North towards Polokwane. Take the N4 Rustenberg Split (toll-road) Follow the road straight, a signboard on the left side of the road indicates Pilanesberg to the left on route 91. Exit left off the highway. At the T-junction turn right and continue on this road to Sun City. Pass the Kwa Maritane signboard and Sun Village and turn right at the Bakubung and Tshukudu signpost. Follow the road and it will lead you to the Bakubung Gate. At Bakubung Reception, ask for Tshukudu Office. The transfer to Tshukudu is at 14h00 from Bakubung.

Game drives or walk is a must. Our rangers share their intimate knowledge of animals and plants, answering questions and pointing out the wonders of the wild kingdom. Still, there are times, when you might just like to take it easy, view the game as it visits the water hole from the privacy of your own balcony or from the comfort of the Nest area. Or just relax in the sun around the sheltered rock pool.

Nearby Activities

We find that our guests are most content to spend time at the lodge, drinking in the meditative silence and holding the wide, open plains in awe. But they never leave without tracking down the Big Five in the Pilansberg National Park, on game walks or drives.  Some of the facilities nearby include golf, tennis, Squash, ten pin bowling, horse riding, the crocodile farm, aviary, casinos, live entertainment venues as well as theatre and movies.

Wildlife | Park Information

Pilanesberg National Park, which covers some 55 000 hectare, is the fourth largest in southern Africa. This malaria-free park is perched on the eroded vestiges of an alkaline volcanic crater - one of only three such craters in the world. On its undulating hills and everlasting open plains, you can get a glimpse of the 'Big Five', an abundance of animals and over 360 bird species.

Pilanesberg Airport

Pilanesberg International Airport is located close to Sun City and the Pilanesberg National Park. Since the start of April 2015, SA Express has announced the introduction of 2 weekly flights between OR Tambo International Airport and Cape Town International Airport to Pilanesberg/ Sun City. The first commercial flight took place on Friday 27 March 2015. Visitors wishing to fly to Sun City or Pilanesberg National Park can make use of flights on either Mondays or Fridays. Flying directly to the park means more time to enjoy your holiday with family and friends.

Airports of InterestOR Tambo International Airport – the largest and busiest international airport in Southern Africa, located in Johannesburg. There are a number of commercial flights from most major locations around the world that fly to OR Tambo on a daily basis; or

Lanseria Airport – situated near to Johannesburg, there are a number of commercial flights that operate to Lanseria from Durban and Cape Town on a daily basis. There are also a number of charter companies that fly to Lanseria Airport; or

Cape Town International Airport – this is the primary airport servicing Cape Town. It is located 20 kilometres outside the city centre and was opened in 1954. The airport has direct flights to destinations in Africa, Europe and Asia as well as other commercial hubs in South Africa such as Johannesburg and Durban.

From OR Tambo International or Lanseria Airport it is 2 to 3 hour drive to Pilanesberg National Park. Visitors can access the park either via transfer or using a rented vehicle.
